Kathy Cunningham Appointed as Chair of the Board

The Whanganui Community Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathy Cunningham as the new Chair of the Board, effective 25 September 2025. Kathy brings a wealth of experience in community engagement, philanthropy, and leadership to her new role, and the Foundation is excited to welcome her guidance as it continues to support and enhance the well-being of communities across the Whanganui region.

Kathy Cunningham has a long-standing commitment to strengthening local communities, with an extensive background in governance with non-profit and commercial leadership. Her passion for positive change and her collaborative approach will be instrumental as the Foundation builds on its legacy of supporting local initiatives, empowering organisations, and responding to the evolving needs of Whanganui and its surrounding areas.

The Board of the Whanganui Community Foundation would like to thank the outgoing Chair Dr Mike Paki for his 6.5 years of service in this role and look forward to his continued involvement. The Board are also confident that Kathy’s appointment will usher in a new era of growth and community impact.
